Shane Ohmer is a Philadelphia based dancer, choreographer, and educator with a wide-ranging career in performance and dance education. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Dance at the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music and Northern Kentucky University, where he taught Modern, Jazz, Improvisation, and Professional Practice & Preparation. Shane teaches and choreographs across Ballet, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Acrobatics, and Musical Theatre, and is certified in 4Pointe, a method focused on effective and safe pointe training.

In the summer of 2024, Shane was the Resident Director for the international Rock the Ballet tour in Germany, leading performances seen by over 19,000 people. He previously worked as Associate Dance Captain for the Broadway National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, helping develop a manual to preserve the show’s choreography.

 

He has also served as a visiting lecturer at Point Park University, Memphis University, the University of Arizona, and Wayne State University, and has adjudicated for programs such as the Overture Awards Scholarship Program, the Corbett Mayerson Award Competition, Starbound National Talent, and Encore – Dance Competition for the Stars.

Shane’s choreography includes hundreds of competitive dance pieces, professional concert works, and stage productions. Recent projects include Northern Kentucky University’s Dance ’25: The Fool’s Rose, Dance ’24: Motion Picture, and Synaptic Snowfall for De La Dance Company. His choreography has also appeared at New York Fashion Week for The Blonds and in features for L’Officiel Hommes.

As a performer, Shane has appeared in Susan Stroman’s The Merry Widow at the Metropolitan Opera, Flashdance – The Musical (First National Tour), and as a principal dancer with Rock the Ballet. He has performed with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Whim W’Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, and River North Dance Chicago, appearing at Lincoln Center, The Joyce Theater, and 92nd Street Y in New York City. His work has been featured internationally across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Shane has appeared on Law & Order: SVU, The Late Show with David Letterman, and in campaigns for Warby Parker, Dos Equis, Armani Exchange, and GQ Magazine.

He is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts in Dance at Hollins University and holds a professional certificate in Leadership for the AI Age from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Through his company, Ohmer Arts & Technology, he continues to develop projects connecting dance, education, and emerging technology.
